My Sweet Lord - George Harrison*

*Oh, my Lord! Talk about problems! As many of you know, this 1971 chart-topping song became the focus of a copyright suit against Harrison. The plaintiffs, advocating for a company called Bright Tunes, claimed that the song was a musical ripoff of "He's So Fine," a song by (the then deceased) Ronnie Mack that was recorded by a New York girl group called the Chiffons back in 1963. In 1976, after much litigation, a judge ruled that Harrison was guilty of subconscious plagiarism, and G.H. had to pay $1,599,987 of the earnings from “My Sweet Lord” to Bright Tunes.

Had enough? Add the fact that Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" was produced by the notorious Phil Spector, who was then famous for his "wall of sound" with the Beatles and others, but is now serving 19 years to life in California for second-degree murder.
