"Please allow three months"

If you send a poem to a magazine whose terms of submission say "please allow three months for submissions", and three months goes by, what should you do? Email them and ask about it, or just keep waiting?

You can query if they don't respond in the time they state. (In fact, I think one reason venues state a specific time is so that submitters know not to query before then!)

Especially in the summer months... let it go alittle longer. Everyone is a little busier in the summer and things fall behind.

Agree, just be a little patient this time of year before following up (but do follow up if you haven't heard after October)

I think it's acceptable to query if more than three months have gone by. "Allow three months" means do not query BEFORE three months have passed.
