15th august just went by and I didn't spot this thread until today. it was an independence day... happy or sad, I won't comment that. but I do think the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of my country, would feel rather sad if they saw the state she's in now.

It's not a National Day yet, but in Australia August 23 was the day of the Wave Hill walk-off - the day Vincent Lingiari led the Gurindji stockmen, their wives and children in a strike against England's Vestey Group, which lasted seven years.

We don't have a name for this day yet - but we do have a song.
