Spanish course for English speakers

No idea, but there was an old sketch from a Venezuelan comedy show Radio Rochela (like Laugh-In except it has been on TV since 1959 til the government closed down the network) about an English teacher who would teach things like this. Two I can remember:

Mickey Mouse = Mí quemaos = me burn'd. (sic)

A Red Chair = Arrechera = In heat.

Here I was thinking about asking if I could tag along and then you have this?

Tsk tsk.

My first Spanish teacher had an original way of teaching Spanish.
She made us learn the story of The Three Bears in Spanish by heart. That was over 40 years ago, but I can still recite most of it:
Eso es la historia de los tres osos: el oso grande, el oso mediano, y el oso pequen~o (still can't get tht htingee to sit on the n!)....

it goes on with things like: "Vamos a dar un paseo par el bosque!"

We also had to learn by heart a text which went likt this:

"Maria Rosario, tu tenias entonces quince an~os. Tu llevabas un trajo negro y un delantal blanco." etc etc.
It's actually a pretty good method. I never forgot certain phrases.

Then, when I was 16, I travelled to England from Trinidad on the Spanish Line, a ship called the Montserrat. It stopped at La Guaira, Venezuela, toom on some Venezuelans, then went on a week long ctruise through the Caribbean also picking up passengers form the various islands, deposited the Venzuealns back at La Guaira, then crossed the Atlantic to the Canary Islands, Vigo and Santander and finally Southhampton. It was fantastic. I totally fell in love with everything Spanish on that trip. Inclding the porter who every morning came into our cabin chanting "Agua fresciiiiiiiita!"
