I do a lot of writing for work to, policy & strategy stuff, trying to convince people in the UK that they should be paying attention to China or they're going to be screwed in the long term.
I'm not ruling anything in or out in terms of staying - have a boyfriend here now which makes it slightly more of a complex question, although he wants to leave at some stage too so I guess we'll be playing it by ear. Hopefully my organisation keeps me in post for a little longer at least...

Lol, convince people in the UK to pay attention? Hmm.... I remember that type of work. Getting them to move on anything that wasn't related to "being better than thou 'cos we have a monarchy" was difficult. Oh, not dissing them; I'm amused by the memory.
Yay, boyfriend! Certainly makes being in China a lot more fun! Heh, I expect your organisation will want you to stay for around 2 years, at which point, you'd likely be the one to make the decision to stay or not.

我断断续续写了些小说，但都没有写完，写了几章就放弃了，还是水平不够。 现在准备好好练习，先写些短篇的，主要为了提高写作水平，慢慢练， 慢慢进步，一点一点提高。 先不考虑发表。

Hehehe, writing novels takes time and dedication but is certainly good fun. However, understand about writing shorter pieces for the practice (I do this, too, occasionally).
Agreed that publication can wait; it's nice to have, but the process needs to be fun first.

我很少看大陆的中文作品了，只看在美国的一两个中文网站的文章。

If you want to post something short (a short story or portion of your novel, for example) for critique, then it'll be one of the sub-forums in the "Share Your Work" forum.
