When did we get these "visitor messages" and how can I see them when I don't get a new one? They don't show up in my User CP any where.

Click on your own name on any of your posts. Select "public profile". They're right there on the first page, just scroll down a little.

They only show up in your User CP if there's a new one.

That seems like a rather strange and non-intuitive way to do it.

Visitor Messages arrived Labor day of 2009.

You now get a Notification (unless you've turned them off) for PMs and Visitor Messages.

The Notification includes a link. Click the link to read the message.

The Notifications are a new feature that arrived via the vBulletin update of a couple weeks ago.

(I slave and I slave and you never even notice-- sob (no I'm not serious) )

What I think is cool-not-cool is how many visitor messages are clearly referring to something specific but don't include a link to it, unlike rep points, so that lots of us have messages saying some version of 'I agree completely'--but with what?

Maryn, still glad to have 'em

There is a link on the visitor message that says View Conversation or something similar. So if you are having a conversation with some via the visitor message, a person would just have to click on that to see it.

But no, it doesn't tie to one particular post.
