As I like to remind all my Lidless Pot friends each year, you are valued just as you are. You are complete and whole. And pretty cool, most of you.
Since I saw this thread revived a bit ago, I've been paying attention to my kitchen habits. I use lidless pots somewhere between a third and half the times I cook anything. What would we be without you?

Thank you, Maryn and HaggisThank you, regdog, for maintaining this thread. As a happily lidless pot of many years, it is refreshing to see a celebration of the status. I was truly surprised to learn that even at my advanced age there are silly people who feel the need to reassure me that I will someday find "The One." Good Lord, silly people, a significant percentage of age-appropriate (by your standards) partners for me are (a) seriously disabled; (b) demented; (c) dead. Let it go, already!!!
I'm sitting here alone laughing at the notion that the perfect partner might be a dead partner. Yeah, some days, that completely works for me!
Maryn, odd sense of humor
Ha! There were times in the past when dead would definitely have worked for me. Imaginary wouldn't be bad, either, but that appears to be frowned upon once you are past the age of six or so.
I like to use my lids without pots, but I never imagined using my pots without lids. What an interesting concept!
