Here's a game I play with my drama students. Someone starts a story and, depending if things are going well or badly, ends the sentence with "fortunately" or "unfortunately." The next person repeats "fortunately" or "unfortunately" and adds an appropriate thought.
Example:
1st person: I decided to walk across the street to the coffee shop, unfortunately...
2nd person: Unfortunately, I got hit by a bus. Fortunately...
3rd person: Fortunately, I got thrown into the back of a pickup truck hauling mattressess. Unfortunately...
Okay, here's the beginning of the story:
Yesterday, I found the perfect Christmas gift for my best friend. Unfortunately...
