I have no idea what the answer is to the above, but would love to bump this thread back to it’s simpler roots.

Perhaps, if the solution goes unanswered for over a month, the author can provide the answer and, maybe, something simpler? Something that doesn’t require the use of Google or programmed de-scramblers. At the end of the day, it’s all brain exercise, right?

Thanks, Perscribo, for revivifying this thread. :Trophy:
It was very popular back in the day. So we begin with a fairly easy scramble and maybe progress to more complicated ones as the game goes along. To remind folks of the rules, each word of the scramble has the same number of letters as the corresponding word of the solution. If there is punctuation, it must be included in the scramble, too, and in the same place as in the solution. For example, LET'S BOOGIE could be scrambled as OIL'T EOBESG but not as IO GOT L'S BEE.

So to Perscribo's scramble, the solution is POETRY

Here's another fairly easy one:

I DARN AHT’S GAHDY

#1 Well-known song

Turkey in the Straw is correct, but I could never figure out what that song is supposed to be about. :Guitar:

Answer: Who Framed Roger Rabbit

(I remain amazed at the coordination between the animation and the actors in that film--especially Bob Hoskins, who used a spot-on American accent in delivering an astonishing performance!)

GEE GORSEDS NADOLLS

Hint: On top, for now anyway.

The dark side of the moon, making sinister plans..
It truly was an amazing film! Bob Hoskins had his work cut out for him, basically acting alone because the computer effects were nothing compared to today.

Answer: Los Angeles Dodgers

(It took me a while because I don't follow sports and, though I'm not old enough to remember when they were in Brooklyn, that's what my mind kept wanting :))

'FALL ET, PERF ACH, OPP PLOCANC.'

Hint: TV Advertising Jingle/Slogan (you know you wanted one, even if the commercials were God-awful)...I'm so old...maybe I need one :tongue

They surely do still sell it. Still easier and more succinct than asking Alexa to turn off lights.

Answer: Born To Be Wild

SAME MALOFETE I CURLY THRASH RIVETSLYR

Hint: Maddening song now lurking in the background of everywhere I shop.

But I can only think of this slogan as initialized on red hats, all of which I would like to burn (environmentally, of course).

Make America Great Again

And now for the most repellent holiday song of all. :Headbang:

ONIDDET, ARL ESE-OHRRE HEUNRDDP

(The punctuation is often omitted, but this is how the title was written when the song was first recorded.)
