Let's say an independent composer/performer agreed to take a look at one (or some) of your song lyrics. Since you'd long ago given up on pitching these lyrics and they don't pour out of you as easily as they used to, would you send him your best one, figuring this might be your last shot. Or would you continue holding out the best for Madonna or Jason Mraz (who, frankly, probably don't know you exist) and give him something a little further down the quality chain?

I'd think sending him the best would be the best path to get it noticed by an even bigger artist in the future, assuming this artist turns it into a good song and gets some exposure. Even if they just put it up on YouTube it still gets more exposure than it does sitting on your hard drive.
