At 11am EDT tomorrow (Thursday, 30 June 2005), the Diane Rehm Show on NPR will have an hourlong feature on self-publishing. Contributors/panelists will include Dan Poynter… and Jaws.

All is not lost if your local NPR doesn't carry this: The station (WAMU in DC) has an excellent-sound-quality simultaneous webcast, and the show itself has archives running about two hours behind. My role is to act as a voice of (in)sanity and provide some cautionary advice to help keep self-publishers from getting taken to the cleaners—either due to fraud/scams or due to unrealistic expectations.

Augh! The pain!

And I only found out about it at 09:00 MDT! And me nowhere near a radio.

I shall certainly seek out the archived webcast.

Jaws, you're a hero, you know that?

Interesting that she has an Xlibris author on considering it's supposed to be a show on self-publishing...

(Jaws, just heard you, good job!)

Me, too.

But this is great! I'm gonna listen again on the archive. It'll be worth it.

*edit to add: Thanks again, Jaws! Now I have a question for you. When I listen to the archive, if I burn a copy on CD to listen to again, am I violating any copyright laws? I really don't want to do that - but I really want to keep the info. Does my copy fall under 'fair use'?*

Go to my Congressional page… well, not really, I just took inspiration from the "revision and extension" of remarks that they do in CR… for both more comments (things were overtime, so my air time got cut by several minutes) and a link that will legitimately allow one to download a RealMedia copy of the show that may be archived for personal or scholarly use (but not passed around on the net, etc.).
