There are five kids in my house, two of whom don't belong to me. Yes, I'm sure. But I will tell you that my hubby and I had a marital interruptus situation at 6:25 this morning - our kids just keep waking up earlier and earlier. After 14 years, you just laugh.

I'm sitting here in the watch office at the station with my feet propped up on the desk drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette. The fire/police radio is crackling in my ear. The TV is on, but I'm not paying attention to it. I have one eye on the computer and one eye on the group of kids across the street. Waiting for our next call...what will it be, what will it be? The Fire Gods didn't speak to me this morning, so I am certain we will not catch a fire this shift. But there are plenty of other ways in which people can hurt themselves and need our help.

So I wait...

I'm sitting here at my desk, at work, taking a fifteen pause from my work day. I just finished surfing the Catholic vs. Wiccan thread here and it only validated my beleif that one should never discuss religion or politics as these are very personal and volatile issues. SOme very diverse and agressive opinions being expressed.

I have a Starbucks Iced Coffee and a mouthful of a Snickers bar while I'm typing my reply. May we all have a good day. I'm going to buy some chocolate chip cookies for my wife tonight.. I've been inspired by this thread.

Mommie4a, I can empathize with the maritus interruptus, being the father of a 16, 14 and 3 year old. Alone time is as rare as the African Dodo bird in our house.
