MC from story set 40,000 years ago: yes, because it's set in North West Europe and it's still kinda ice agey. He thinks the land's a bit mean for being so cold in winter, and the sky even more so for sending snow. It's harder to find food to eat when its cold and snowy so he can't wait until the sky's a bit more cheerful and the land warms up in spring.

Cloned Neandertal MC: yes because it's set in London. He likes the snow because he knows his people were adapted for ice age Europe so would've seen a lot of snow. He also doesn't cope with hot weather all that well (being cold-adapted) and prefers it when it's cold. He's been known to go out in sub zero temperatures in just jeans and a t-shirt but his mum* doesn't like him doing that, saying she's not sure he's that cold-adapted.

*Homo sapiens surrogate mother but he just calls her mum


Does your MC have a vehicle of their own? If so what kind of vehicle (or make and model if it's a car or similar)?

Andy. No, still learning to drive. Has always wanted a car of his own and is pissed that his double has one.

Gotten a tattoo on her cheek that she both had to remove the next day and got detention for (she goes to a military school).

The world is ending in three years and cannot be prevented. Given the choice, does your MC choose to know about the end of the world or live in ignorance of it?

Spindle would choose to ignore it. She's already seen her home planet come to corruption and would rather not have to watch her beloved Earth go through the same thing.

If your MC lost their phone (or a similar device), how would they react?

Will doesn't really have a phone. Her home is like...middle-ages Norway so there aren't really phones. The main way people in her world communicate is through letters and there are always messengers around. If she lost her sword, however, she'd make do without it while panicking on the inside.

Has your MC ever broken a bone?

No. Surprisingly after all the spaceship crashes to Earth I put Spindle through.

What smell reminds your MC of their past?

Ash or the burning of ash wood. Grant's reminded of the fire that burned the village he was born in.

What was the first place your MC traveled outside of their hometown?

Spindle lives on a planet that's owned by her parents, so I guess the planet would be her hometown. If so, the first place she visited was Earth.

Would your protagonist rather be younger or older than their current age?

Will would probably rather be older in the hopes that people would take her more seriously.

Does your protagonist prefer cats or dogs?

Neva prefers cats because she believes they need less looking after. She thinks dogs are loyal but goofy, and she has too many people like that in her life.

Right now a heat wave is stretching across much of the northern hemisphere. How does your protagonist handle hotter-than-usual temperatures?

Will was born and raised on the shores of a frosty fjord. Her adventures in the Red Desert, far south of her chilly home, leave her miserable. She would rather be in subzero temperatures than hot ones any day.


If they're in a bar/pub/drinking establishment of some type, and the music is 'lit', would your character dance?

Yes. She's not much of a dancer, but she'd appreciate the chance to cut loose, especially if alcohol is involved.

A random omniscient being comes to your character with two offers. The first is one million dollars or the equivalent; the second is ten million, but their worst enemy gets one hundred million dollars. Which do they choose?

Lizzie would definitely choose the first option. She's just about to go to university so 1 million alone is a lot of money, and giving her worst enemy any kind of aid or advantage could result in more deaths.

Does your character like spicy food?

Emrys loves spicy food. He doesn't get to eat it very much, as spices are expensive and his family is not wealthy. But when he gets his hands on any kind of peppers, he'll eat them whole. His older brothers claim he's a masochist.

What is your main character's biggest pet peeve?

Neva's pet peeve is her business partner, Rick. He's over-the-top, full of himself, and she's left to pick up the pieces.
If we want a lesser pet peeve, then it's having to live in a room in a house with a bunch of college students because luthiers make very little green.

Your MC is stuck with nothing to do (waiting for the bus, doctor's appointment, etc.). What are they doing to pass the time?

She either does her homework, reads classical literature, or just tries to fall asleep. Raine's favorite hobby, restoring/building a motorcycle, isn't something she can just pick up and do anywhere.

Your character can have one mystical/mythical/fictional animal as a pet. What do they choose?

A unicorn.

Would your character get into a debate on a podcast? If so, what would it likely be about?

My story is set in the 80s/90s, so before podcasts in the modern sense -- however, he would absolutely take part in a live debate, due to his strong views and argumentative nature! The debate would likely be about literature, i.e. should the literary canon exist?

Spindle (an alien) has dozens of older siblings she's never met. She is close to, however, her 20 year old brother and her 15 year old sister.

15 year old cloned Neandertal MC: Yes and it was top secret until the BBC went and inconsiderately published it on their website after the Journal of Human Evolution announced his existence. He's still not going to tell anyone what it is. If they want to know that badly they'll have to check the BBC's news archives from May of 2055. Clue: he was named after the two scientists who first published the existence of Neandertals. His first name is Carl. His middle name comes from the other scientist but he wishes it didn't and unofficially uses "Caveman" as his middle name instead.

MC from 40,000 years ago: The population density is very low and having an official name isn't really a thing. Their names are more like what we'd consider nicknames, i.e. what people call you. Surnames won't be a thing for a great many millennia and neither will middle names.



What is your main character's favourite weather and why?

Elena doesn't care, rain or shine—but she prefers weather warm enough that she can stick her feet into the water at the beach without losing toes. She's tested this to its very limits and knows instinctively exactly how much cold she can tolerate, but she's too lazy to measure it in degrees or anything like that.

Your MC is frustrated and needs to take a moment to reflect. Where do they go? Do they talk to anybody or hash it out by themselves? Or . . . ?

Barney - He would talk to the inventor he lives with, Mr. Thomas. He always brings his problems to Mr. Thomas.

What animal frightens your MC the most?

Kimiko:: Frightens? A bear, probably. Maybe a shark. If we're doing irrational fear, then it would be squirrels. Their fuzzy exterior hides tiny demons.


What would make your MC feel nostalgic?

Metallica.
