Guess I'm going to be the one to kick off the 2020 challenge. I did manage to hit my 2019 target of 130 (although it was all a bit squeaky bottom towards the end) so I thought I'd set the same target again this year. I am reading a mix of genres again, including YA and children's fiction so I hope to be able to hold my head up in the Forum.

Anyway with that in mind I managed a respectable 10 in January, 2 of which were YA:

  1. Why Cities Look The Way They Do by Richard J Williams.
  2. The Widows Of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey.
  3. Moneyland by Oliver Bullough.
  4. The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave.
  5. Asia’s Reckoning: China, Japan, The US And The Struggle For Global Power by Richard McGregor.
  6. Fallen by Benedict Jacka.
  7. The End Of Aspiration by Duncan Exley.
  8. Dancing Jax by Robin Jarvis.
  9. Dear Life by Rachel Clarke.
  10. Skulduggery Pleasant – Resurrection by Derek Landy.
As ever, reviews are up on my blog https://ireadthereforeiblog.wordpress.com if you're interested in checking them out.

Anyway, I hope that everyone else's reading year is going well and look forward to seeing what people are reading!

I managed 10 in March, 3 of which were YA. FWIW I would definitely recommend The Black Flamingo for anyone interested in LGBTQ+ YA - it's been nominated for several YA awards this year already, it's beautifully illustrated and it has a bi-racial protagonist so it deals with intersectionality too.

  1. The Price Guide To The Occult by Leslye Walton.
  2. The Case For People’s Quantitative Easing by Frances Coppola.
  3. A Pocketful Of Stars by Aisha Bushby.
  4. The Econocracy: On The Perils Of Leaving Economics To The Experts by Joe Earle, Cahal Moran and Zach Ward-Perkins.
  5. Skin Deep by Liz Nugent.
  6. Liquid Crystal Nightingale by Eeleen Lee.
  7. The Haven by Simon Lelic.
  8. The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta.
  9. The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley.
  10. Supercharg3d: How 3D Printing Will Drive Your Supply Chain by Len Pannett.

I only managed 6 books in April - mainly because I've found it very difficult to concentrate during lockdown so I wasn't able to enjoy reading. I also didn't manage any YA in April, although I did read 1 "tween" and an MG. I'm making up for it with a couple of YA mysteries in May.

  1. The Haven Revolution by Simon Lelic.
  2. The Catch by Mick Herron.
  3. The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher.
  4. M&A Disputes: A Professional Guide To Accounting Arbitrations by A. Vincent Biemans and Gerald M. Hansen.
  5. The Girl With Space In Her Heart by Lara Williamson.
  6. The Atlas Of Disease by Sandra Hempel.

I managed 8 books in May, 3 of which were YA. I'm still finding it very difficult to concentrate on reading so am cutting back on the non-fiction because it's proving to be too difficult to maintain concentration for long enough to get through them.

  1. Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus.
  2. Chernobyl Prayer by Svetlana Alexievich.
  3. This Lie Will Kill You by Chelsea Pitcher.
  4. Primo Levi: The Last Interview – Conversations with Giovanni Tesio by Giovanni Tesio.
  5. Generation Left by Keir Milburn.
  6. Deadpool: The Complete Collection Volume 1 by Daniel Way, Andy Diggle, Steve Dillon, Paco Medina, Carlo Barberi and Bong Dazo.
  7. Gunnerkrigg Court Volume 1: Orientation by Thomas Siddell.
  8. One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus.

I only managed a pitiful 5 books in July, which is pitiful although at least one of them was YA so there's that. I've already given up on my 2020 target of 130 and scaled it down to 110 but I think even that may be overly optimistic.1. The Far Right Today by Cas Mudde.2. Blood Moon by Lucy Cuthew.3. Offline: Free Your Mind From Smartphone And Social Media Stress by Imran Rashid and Soren Kenner.4. Rory Branagan: The Deadly Dinner Lady by Andrew Clover and Ralph Lazar.5. Riding For Deliveroo: Resistance In The New Economy by Callum Cant.Reviews are up on my blog https://ireadthereforeiblog.wordpress.com if you're interested in checking them out.MM

I only managed 4 books in August so I think I'm going backwards (no YA but a couple of MG). I have started to want to read more in the last week or so plus I'm due back in the office in a few weeks so I hope to be able to start picking up again.

  1. Embassy Of The Dead: Hangman’s Crossing by Will Mabbitt.
  2. The Den Of Geek Guide To The Movieverse: Movie Geek by Simon Brew, Ryan Lambie and Louisa Mellor.
  3. The Organ Thieves by Chip Jones.
  4. Top Marks For Murder by Robin Stevens.

I only managed 4 in September but one of them was YA so ... there's that. I've got 38 books to read by year end to hit 100 and I really don't think I'm going to make it - first time I'll have missed it in years. But that's a global pandemic for you ...1. Death Sets Sail by Robin Stevens.2. I Used To Be A Fish by Tom Sullivan.3. The Club by Joshua Robinson and Jonathan Clegg.4. Children Of Blood And Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.Reviews are up on my blog https://ireadthereforeiblog.wordpress.com if you're interested in checking them out.MM
