96. The Philosopher's Pupil - Iris Murdoch
97. The Penguin Dorothy Parker (sadly this was not a novel about a chain-smoking literary penguin known for its crushing
bon mots and acid wit. It was, however, a collection of the short stories, poems and reviews of the much-imitated but never bettered Ms Parker, and was almost as much fun as the novel would have been)
98. Surprised by Joy - C.S. Lewis
99. Paperweight - Stephen Fry
And, just to finish on a nice, nostalgic note -
100. The Wind in the Willows - Kenneth Grahame
- because why not?
HURRAH! Made it to one hundred, with a few weeks to spare! I've been itching to read Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace over the last few weeks and have held off, because I knew how much it would slow me down and I really wanted to reach the one hundred mark by the end of the year. Now that we're safely over the finishing line I can make a start on it, as well as one or two other long books that have been calling my name in recent months. If I have any more to add for the rest of the year I'll come back and update the list, but Infinite Jest could easily take me through into the new year!
Happy reading, Memento Mori and Sage (and anyone else silently taking part, or just following the thread out of interest)!
