I'm new to NaNoWriMo this year so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but who do you verify that you did the dare?
Historical kittehs!
Dare: include one line written in LOLcat-speak
BP: if it's in dialogue
2BP: if the dialogue makes sense within the context
and...Concentrating on Zere, he nearly tripped over a bundle of oddments that stirred and sat up nearly under his feet. "Can has meat, seor? I'z hungry, seor, can helps plz?"
Hungry, with that scent of mealy-beans on the air? He drew back. The beggar was thin, surely, with wide startlingly-green eyes and ginger-blond hair that stood up in tufts all over his head. His bony outstretched hand were knotted and chapped-- how had he managed to be in such a state, with Ulysses to provide for him?
Zere darted back as he spoke. "You, Galbraith, leave be!" She planted herself between them, hands on hips. "Or not one nom do you get tonight. Hear?"
The beggar stretched out his hands to her. "Can has nom? Plz, ladee?"
"Not now. The same as every night. And hush, ejit!"
Dare: Use the phrase "I just accidentally the whole thing!" (or any variation of the sentence where the action verb is missing)
Bonus Points: If it makes sense to everyone but your main character.
Double BP: If you manage to have a chapter long conversation spawning from that one phrase.
And of course:Kian opened his mouth, but Zere intervened first. "Do you know, Tod?" she asked sweetly. "Do you my father's name? We accidentally the boat, Tod. Not thieves. Sometimes things go wrong."
Kian blinked, trying to follow what she said. It seemed to make sense, until he tried to track the words individually. But the docker seemed to understand instantly. His face lost his mockery and he gave her his instant respectful attention. "Pardon, ah... ? But we orders. No trade, no carriage."
"And we're not trade nor carriage. Shall I my father? Or will you?"
Dare: include the sentence "You lose the game" in your novel.
2BP: if it makes sense in context.
...
A cookie: if it starts or ends the novel.
"With a throw like that, how can you lose the game?"
THE END
Yay!(Sage, still working on the cookie!)
Last line of the novel.Dare: include the sentence "You lose the game" in your novel.
2BP: if it makes sense in context.
3BP: if you explain the rules of the game, in context
4BP: if it starts, ends, or titles a chapter
A cookie: if it starts or ends the novel.
A batch of fresh-baked most-addictive-cookies-in-the-world: if it's the title of the novel. (But you have to share.)
Truth or dare, doesn't really matter. Either way, I lose the game.
Okay, slight lie, but nobody's throwing Truths my way in this epic game of Truth or Dare. Only Dares. Dare dare dare. My life is a dare.
And I'm not about to lose the game.
Any dare I receive I'll do. But only once. Those are my self-imposed rules. Anything I choose to dare myself to do, of course, I'm free to do again. But for anyone else, I have rules. It's the only way to get by in this game.
My character forgets that he brought something he shouldn't have. He's wearing a ring that makes him look like the species (human vs. a given demon) he's nearest to when he goes to the house of the red, scaley demon he stole it from.Forgetfulness. Have a character forget to bring something important.
BP if missing the item changes the course of the story.
