'Forty-Six & 2' by Tool
Join in my, join in my child,
And listen, I've been digging through my old numb shadow...

My shadow's
Shedding skin
I've been picking
Scabs again.
I'm down
Digging through
My old muscles
Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused and insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in
My shadow.
My shadow.

Change is coming through my shadow.
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again.

Join in my
Join in my child
My shadow moves
Closer to meaning

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic, insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured in
My shadow
My shadow

Change is coming.
Now is my time.
Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
Forty-six & 2 ahead of me.

I choose to live and to grow,
Take and give and to move,
Learn and love and to cry,
Kill and die and to be paranoid and to lie,
Hate and fear and to do
What it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to lie,
Kill and give and to die,
Learn and love and to do
What it takes to step through.

See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side.
Step into the shadow.
Forty-six & 2 are just ahead of me.

Smile Like You Mean It - The Killers

I read somewhere that Mr. Brightside is so popular in the UK that it's graduated to meme status. Something about the song charting every year since it came out in 2004? That's hilarious.

Been listening to an acapella version of "Happier" by Guster, it's a great combination of bitter and sad, and somehow makes me think it's talking to a villain!

'Echo', by Kevin Abstract. I've basically been listening to his and Brockhampton's albums on repeat to get me into a writing mindset. 'Echo' especially just puts me right into the emotions of my protagonist.

Staring at the sky ain't gon' fix my problem
Staring at the sky ain't gon' fix my problem
Howling at the moon ain't gon' bring you back
Howling at the moon ain't gon' bring you back
Staring at the sky ain't gon' fix my problem
Staring at the sky ain't gon' fix my problem
Howling at the moon ain't gon' bring you back
Howling at the moon ain't gon' bring you back

I started smoking cigarettes
I even picked up pot again
Coke ain't touch my nose yet
I'm afraid I'll be just like my friend
I'm afraid I ain't gon' have no friends
Oh my god, when do my story end?
Tell me God, when do my story end?
I'm locked outside of the DeLorean

He was a bad son
He was a bad son
He was a bad son
He was a bad son
So he left home, so he left home
He had to run, yeah
He had to run, yeah
He had to run, yeah
He had to run, yeah
Nowhere to go, nowhere to go

You can take a look into my eyes
You can take a look into my eyes
Go ahead and tell me what you find
You can take a look into my eyes
You can take a look into my eyes
You can take a look into my eyes
Tell me what you like
Go ahead and tell me what you find

When it all fall down
Where you going now
When it all fall down
Where you going now
When it all fall down
Where you run to now
When it all come down
Where you run to now
Where you run to now
Where you run to now
Where you run to now
Where you run to now
