After ten straight days (again) of record prices, gasoline has hit and exceeded the $4 a gallon mark in many places.

News story here:

http://biz.yahoo.com/cnnm/080516/051608_gas_prices.html

In my area, the cheapest gas - at two stations is now $3.59. Last weekend, we waited in line to buy gas at $3.46 at one station; the others were already $3.56. I imagine it will go up again today.

Some predict - and I hope they are wrong - that gas prices may be close to $5 by the Memorial Day weekend, a time when gas prices usually spike higher.

It was $3.53 here yesterday. I need a bike without a motor, as far as I live from civilazation it'll take me three days to get to town but, hey, I won't be spending my money buying the CEO's pumpkin a new pony.

Never thought about the pony... I always thought it was the wives bugging for another fur coat...

eta: $3.69 here - we canceled our summer trip to WA - my friend there said it was now 4.11 in her area. We just can't afford to go...unless of course we ride my pony there...

I paid $3.86 last Saturday. At some stations here, the middle grade of gas is already at $4. Plain old regular will be at $4 by Memorial Day, I'm sure.

Very glad I live 10 minutes from work, and most of the kids' activities are 15-20 minutes away, max.

Don't worry... Mr. Bush is on the job, meeting with his extended family in Saudi Arabia. Everything is going to be fine... *snicker*

I put $10 in my tank yesterday at $3.79/gallon.

Yep, just enough to get home and park it.

Isn't it Exxon that just launched some mega multi-million dollar pr campaign to try to bring "good will" back to oil companies?

Do you feel any good will yet?

If I'd needed it this morning, I would have paid $4.72/gallon.

Me, I'd be HAPPY if it was only $4.00 !

I love how they say that the market determines the price... and then you read about record profits to the oil companies and realize that Saudi Arabia is actually producing a million less barrels per day than it did in 2006... meanwhile they have the capacity to produce 11 million barrels a day and only make 8.5 million. We're being hosed.

party pooper :partyguy:

I'm just the fly in everyone's ointment. :D

I don't mean to be...if you cut me, I bleed. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep late at night. I watch girly movies from time to time. I have a soul.

I also have some oceanfront property in Koffey, Kansas if you're interested.

All but one of the gas stations around here are in the $3.71 to $3.75 range for a gallon of regular.

The sole holdout is an independent selling regular for $3.60/gallon; cash only. He doesn't take credit cards and all he sells is gasoline: no convenience store items. He is open from 6a.m. to 8p.m. Mon-Sat and is always busy.

Who says there isn't money to be made selling gasoline?

Yeah, if only the hybrids didn't start at $25K! And a bike, well, it's so hard to fit the kids on the handlebars to get them to school, you know?

Only goodwill they could give me is $1 a gallon gas again.

Man, where are you? I thought it was bad here at 3.72.

Puget Sound region of Washington State. And that's the price for Diesel.

Yes, I use Diesel, but at 50 miles per gallon, I'll keep buying Diesel !

3.99 in my neck of the woods. That was last night, when I had to fill up my tank.

I'm starting to become really, really glad that I got out of the whole "drive the car to work" thing a few years ago.
