Would agents be able to accept remakes of a self published series?

I have a self published series of books that I would like to remake into new stories using the same characters and hopefully the same art style. Everything else will be different though.I was wondering if it is worth it to submit these new stories to agents and publishers even though they're based on a self published series.

Are these children's books? Graphic novels? Adult erotica? It'd help to have a bit more specific information.

Can you expand a bit on what you mean by "remake?" (And by "art style," do you mean this is an illustrated series?)

The way I'm reading it, you plan on using the same characters from your self-published series, but put them into a completely new set of adventures. If that's the case, you can certainly try to interest agents and publishers, although it may be a hard sell, especially if the original series didn't have decent sales.

If you're talking about simply rewriting the original books (and re-illustrating them), that's going to be a REALLY hard sell.

My understanding is that agents pitch and sell manuscripts to kidlit publishers, who then have their own staff or contracted illustrators who they pair up with the author. So that may not fit with what you want.

But new stories with an established set of characters, particularly if the SP series was successful, should be of interest to agents.

I haven't read other replies so if I am repeating what someone else has said, I am not piling on.

Art style. Is this a graphic novel? If you trade publish the publisher is in control of the cover art.
New stories as in, they haven't been self published? Agents are always interested in seeing new stories.

If the stories are original, haven't been published, and don't rely on the self-published series for the reader to understand what's happening, you might as well shoot your shot.
