My father was going bald on top and had been in the military as a young man. He told me his head had been shaved when he enlisted. As a child of four I thought that A) his head was shaved so it would fit inside his helmet and B) that once your head was shaved for the army, it never grew back, hence his current state.

That's great. And definitely makes some sense, at least from a four-year-old logic point of view!

Our local Kingdom Hall building had a battlement-looking design at the top, so it looked a bit like a castle. For some reason, that made me believe it was a toy store. Every time we passed by, I would beg my parents to stop there, and was terribly disappointed that we never got to go in.
