I am currently reading from one of our very own AWer's, Fate of Flames. I'm always proud to read a book created by one of you guys!

Finished Iain Banks' Canal Dreams. Not knowing the exact nature of it before I started, I was quite surprised by how violent it turned out to be, although I should have knowing Banks! It was good but I found the ending too unbelievable to really get into it properly.

Also just finished The Owl Service by Alan Garner. It's a kids/young teens book really but I'd always been intrigued by his work and decided to try it out. It was much weirder than I thought it would be but very innovative. It reminded me a lot of Susan Cooper's books as it's based on old lore and legends related to a particular landscape.

A Night in the Lonesome October - Roger Zelazny

(reading a chapter a day, as each one covers a day in the lead up to Halloween in the book)

I've just started The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. I've heard such good things and I'm intrigued so far; can't wait to read more!
