Chef Andrés' World Central Kitchen (well known for swooping into disaster areas with allllll the food) is continuing to pour resources into both Ukraine and to transit centers in Poland and Hungary. They're a wonderful resource. Link here: https://wck.org/

@Siri Kirpal do you have links? I worry about stumbling onto a "close-but-not-quite-it" website, especially when, in times of strife, bad actors look to take advantage.

Good point, especially since UNITED SIKHS has separate links for each of its (many) relief efforts. The one for Ukraine is this one:

All donations go to refugees.

The link for UNITED SIKHS in general is www.unitedsikhs.org.

I haven't donated to Sikh Aid, but I'll look it up and post later.

Blessings,

Well, it looks like there are 2 groups named Sikh Aid on the web, and I'm not going to second guess which one to go to.

The one I was thinking of, though, has a different name: Khalsa Aid. This group is providing transportation and medical assistance to people before they reach the refugee camps. Link is here: https://www.khalsaaid.org/donate

Blessings,

Even small businesses are doing their part as they are able.

Snag Tights is selling duos--tights with two different colors for the two legs--as Horse Queen tights in Ukraine's blue and yellow. "
"Our Horse Queen is ready to order now! Every single penny made from Horse Queen will be donated straight to the people of Ukraine.
Show your support and grab a pair. Wear your heart on your legs!
SUPPORT UKRAINE!"

And if you're in the market for regular tights, Snag is fabulous, with tights that are good quality, truly comfortable, fully opaque, and come in the widest size range imaginable. They're the only tights I buy.

I personally met Andriy Yarmolenko, the West Ham superstar, right after they won against Savilla last year. He was crying, made me cry too.

Something different: If you want to support Ukraine, how about buying a Ukrainian video game? S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - Heart of Chornobyl It's available for PC's (On Steam and elsewhere) and Xbox. It's an open world first person shooter. The software developer is GSC Game World, a Ukrainian company. The game had been in development since around 2010, following the release of STALKER 1.

It debuted on November 24, 2024 - several years late, in part because of the Russian invasion.

GSC Game world made a really great video on the development of the game (1:27) - While the majority of the video is about making the game, it also gives a good first person view of the war as it unfolded from Ukrainians who were there and how it delayed the production. Those parts reminded me a little of 20 Days In Mariupol, but without much of the graphic gore.

Reviews:

PC Gamer: Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has almost single-handedly saved 2024 from being an absolutely rubbish year for gaming
Gamespot gave it a 7 - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

It had a lot of issues right after it was released, but everything was quickly resolved with patches. I've been playing it trouble-free (on PC) since it came out and I have over 100 hours in it. I like it quite a lot. Post apocalyptic world with lots of good mutants and zombies, etc. It's on the Unreal engine 5 and has beautiful graphics (I'm a sucker for good looking games). The gameplay reminds me of the earlier Fallout games. The map is huge and is a fairly faithful representation of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.

I was just looking at that on Steam. I wasn't sure it would scratch the gaming itch I had at the time, but it might be worth picking up anyway.

I have none of those things, unfortunately, though I'm quite good at using two of them.

That said, there are a number of lawyers I'd love to take with me, just to watch them shit their pants when things get entertaining.

Maybe someone could track down Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner? He's a handy lad in a pinch, I hear.
