Any thoughts on this? Would it be jarring and weird, or would it be potentially fine since SF & F fall under the general umbrella of speculative fiction, and genre lines have kind of blurred recently?

Depends on what kind of comparison? Like...Dune is just Game of Thrones but in the Middle East in space. SF stories that focus on different planets with fantastical creatures and weird societies can happen just as easily in fantasy.

Iron Widow (in some marketing copy, at least) is YA fantasy and compared to The Handmaid's Tale, which is sci fi maybe? Because dystopian? But it's for the dystopian aspects, and becoming a girlboss. The author compares it to Pacific Rim, because giant fighting robots. Pern is technically SF but you can comp it for a lot of different fantasy stories. You get what I'm saying.

Yeah that makes sense, thanks! I was leaning that way, that vibes and content are more important for a comp than strict genre lines.
