I found out about them because whoever runs their social media decided to rant about women, then threatened people who objected. I'm preserving a few below in case they delete it. They didn't appear to have a thread, so now they do.

When "Freedom of Speech" has become a euphemism for Hate Speech, one should tread lightly with one's experiments.

"The UB Team will be releasing a public statement very soon. We want to thank everyone for their patience. This was not any kind of experiment that we supported. It was a travesty. We again want to apologise sincerely to the literary community."

They've posted the public statement now. There's now an apology from James Browning Kepple (who owns the press). The short version is they let someone run the Twitter account for over a year without supervision. That person is now removed. It hasn't been made clear who was tweeting before and who is tweeting now.

I see some people debating on Twitter if the rogue employee thing is genuine or not, but I don't see it's a good look even if it's true. Not checking in on official channels for that long, and just hoping the person running it is doing a good job, is a bad business decision.
