So I tried e-mailing this magazine following up on my short story. For one thing, their e-mail address was apparently wrong or non-existent. My yahoo mail account wouldn't let me send the message because it kept saying it was a malformed recipient. For another thing, I noticed they've been closed for submissions for almost three months, and that's rather unusual to me. Most magazines I've researched haven't been closed longer than two weeks to put together their next issue. And the funny thing? I found this magazine on duotrope.com. Before I even sent to this magazine, I did do research to see if they were legit. I hadn't seen anything bad about them, and they weren't on preditors and editors or any similar sites.

First, I think this should be over in Bewares.

Secondly, I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. The editor's only 'publishing' experience is on a student ezine (highly dubious) and it sounds like she's been rejected, but she's blaming the industry, not herself.

I would be doubtful of the quality, and it could actually backfire having this kind of credit on your CV.
