You may already know about this account, as it got very famous on Twitter in the past year or two, but Derek Guy is now on BlueSky and is a great read. It's all about men's clothing: discussing its history, cut, material, techniques, and a lot more. He's very positive about men's styles from all over the world, and it's a very inspiring account if you're looking for ideas for guys' clothing.

He's one of the people I followed on Twitter, and when I left I kept checking to see if he'd joined Blue Sky yet. IIRC, yesterday or the day before he referred to Jeff Bezos's wedding tuxedo in a highly negative way. Didn't like the fit at all.

I am definitely in the wear what colours I think are pretty, and often gravitate towards colours that don't work for me (like right now I am wearing a sweater that is coral and makes me look very ruddy cheeked). Sometimes when I'm shopping with my sister or best friend will be like "mmmm no" because I like a colour but it doesn't look good on me. When I go shopping by myself, all bets are off.

I accidentally ended up with a mostly black wardrobe for work, which was completely unintentional. Any time I wore something colourful (esp. bright and not...navy blue) my co-workers or students would be like "Miss, your wearing colour!" My teaching partner actually said to me that she thought I just ...always wore black, the same way another teacher *never* wears dresses. Completely unintentional, just what survived when I outgrew certain sizes or things that have gotten stained or torn. Whiteboard markers are my nemesis. So many pieces of clothing have what seem like set-in stains with whiteboard markers.

Whiteboard marker ink can be removed with alcohol -- from whiteboards, and from clothes. Try rubbing hand sanitizer on the stain and then wash the clothing?

I LOATHE shopping for clothes. There is not a single thing about it I actually like. I end up shopping the sale racks and "fits over my body" ends up being my sole criteria.
Gods, yes. Well, "fits over my body and doesn't set off my sensory issues", in my case. I don't care how cheap it is, if I'm going to hit the point of screaming in frustration at it after an hour of wearing it, I'm better off leaving it as a nice deal for someone else who has fewer sensory issues.

That said, I do know I look completely ridiculous in pastel pink or yellow, so those are easy enough to avoid. (Pale redhead. Pastels in general are...not flattering on me. Pastel pinks and yellows are particularly clashing with my natural coloring, though)

I admit, my wardrobe is mostly funny/fantasy/Rush t-shirts, sweats, cargo shorts or overalls. I'm pale skin, with (fading) blonde hair and I like dark colors (especially purple).

One thing I've noticed about t-shirts, given my body shape -- I am ANNOYED that in (women's) t-shirts these days, the arm holes tend to be snug, no matter what size shirt you actually get.

I have very few long sleeve shirts that aren't sweaters because I think it's prevalent across the industry in most styles.

Yes. Please give me a t-shirt with a proper straight, square short sleeve with plenty of space to move my arms up, down and outward, not one of those "well it just about covers the shoulder on the outside, but on the armpit side, it's basically just a seam with just enough extra fabric to bunch up and get even more annoying, and whenever trying to extend your arms in any direction, it pulls"

Yet another reason why a sizeable portion of my wardrobe consists of unisex/male cut band shirts and cartoon shirts. At least those sleeves don't try to shave my armpits.

Plus, I've noticed with some of the specialty t-shirt sites, if you order a "women-sized", there's a damn pink tax :(

That, and men's shirts are a lot more likely to be plain cotton and not sticky, sweaty, clings-to-you and wears a gazillion times faster blends of cotton with various stretchy synthetics (or even purely synthetics).

And they're much more likely to be a straight or mostly straight cut with little "tailoring" for curves that may well be in different spots than the shirt's tailored for depending on build (and it makes it a whole lot easier to invisibly repair a seam if needed, too, if it's just a straight line rather than something curvy)

So yeah, I'll pay less for a shirt that lasts longer, annoys me less, and is more easy to fix if a seam breaks, rather than pay more for a shirt that lasts fewer rounds of laundry, annoys me the entire time, and is harder to repair when a seam inevitably gives out. But it's still ridiculous and infuriating that if we buy the stuff marketed to us, we pay more for worse quality.

I've never looked my best in a T-shirt, although when I was younger and curvier, those ones that were kind of snug and rich with polyester among the cotton were in my wardrobe. Now I have a drawer full of T-shirts, mostly the boxy men's kind, that I do not wear.

This is why I love the oversized t-shirt trend. I don't wear a single tight t-shirt anymore, and I am so much more comfortable for it. :D

I'm also quite tall (177cm, or 5'10"), so I love that oversized means t-shirts aren't always riding up.

ETA: 5'10", not 6'10" 🤦‍♀️

Suspect you meant 5'10" there? 6'10'' is somewhere near 210cm, iirc, which would be quite tall indeed... 😂

But yes, shirts not riding up is another bonus.

And so Netball disappointedly disconnects the call before it has even rung twice.... :)
That's OK, netball was never my thing. Basketball during high school because games were on Thursday nights. Dad said if I wanted to play weekend sport I'd have to figure out how to get myself there because he would be skiing. I chose skiing.

With my Dad it was fishing, or at least, hanging around boats, on the weekend. Fortunately I had no interest in sports, weekdays, weekends or on TV.

I'll speak up here for my favorite T shirt purchases in recent years -- Universal Standard. High quality shirts, consistent sizing, generous armholes, and (at least for me) very flattering fit. They're pretty expensive, but they have good sales regularly, including BOGO, which makes it reasonable. For me, the quality is worth it -- they still look and feel perfect after 2-5 years of regular wash and wear. They make a bunch of different versions. My very favorite is the Garcon tee . Tee Rex is a great basic tee, and it also has aV-neck version and comes in both short and long sleeves.

Check them out, I think there are sales on right now. Colors seem to be limited at the moment, but they're bound to restock before too long. They're not the kind of shop where styles appear for a minute and vanish forever. (They also do a very good job with jeans and other staples.)

Just want to say that if brands want to put soft cups in their bras, for the love of whatever deity, please SEW THEM IN instead of just sticking them into a pocket.
Or if they're thinking 'removable for washing', at least they could use Velcro or something to keep them where you expect them!
