Blunt - Wouldn't that limit the entrants to me, you and NF? I'm not sure you really want that sort of stiff competition.

Just kidding -- sneaking on at camp to check in on you all, and I couldn't resist dropping in to tease.

Well, that would be better odds. I might make it into third place that way, maybe if the judges don't just toss mine out.

So while we wait, I figured I'd post my own contribution to creepy song lyrics. This is one I'd venture almost everyone has heard at some point in their lives, but if you're like me, you never really stopped and thought about the words themselves. The tune is so light and catchy that most people don't. It's not about a town legend, but it's close enough for the spirit of things.

Bad Moon Rising
by Credence Clearwater Revival

I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

[Chorus:]
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

[Chorus]
All right!

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

Don't be nervous. It'll still be a bit yet, so just relax and write something else while our judges work their magicalness.

Oh I'm writing other things. No worries, but I keep checking back here for news. ;)

angry mob! angry mob!

:mob

Oh, look--blunt's started a riot!

:mob:mob:mob

But seriously, as much as I'm anxiously awaiting the results, I can't imagine how much work it must be to read all the entries and make the judgments. :e2hammer:

So, my hat's off to the judges. :Hail:

Sheila made a good point. These are novellas the judges have to read--not short stories. And I know they want to be fair by giving each one enough time.

Effie or I will pass along any updates we might get as soon as we get them.

Not sure if my story is very good. So, I have plenty of patience, take your time judges. I'll be over here in the shadows, watching the angry mob and staying out of there line of vision, just in case they get carried away.
