Anyone have experience with Jonah Straus of Straus Literary? Not a lot on Google. A $ at P&E, a PM page and a website that directs you back to the PM page. He has a number of esoteric sounding clients, but that may be the result of his tenure as the literary agent for a think tank.

Newly listed at Agent Query:

http://www.agentquery.com/agent.aspx?agentid=1047

Responded to my email query within 48 hours asking for as much of the book as I had ready. Did know my work, however, and this is my 20th book. But still, I thought that pretty efficient.

Hmm-m-m... queried and never heard back - four months now. Oh well, onward and upward (I hope!)

Signed,
NEVER PUBLISHED :D

I liked him, he responded quickly, asked for a complete, read it in less than a month I think and I was ready to sign when I got a surprise offer from an agent with a much higher profile who also had very illuminating ideas for a revision. I would have signed with Jonah if not for that call.

I'm almost ready to send out again. I'm in Query Hell right now - and really feeling the burn! :Hammer:

And congratulations on landing that agent! :hooray:

I was attempting to check out JOHAN Straus Literary Agency, when I came across:

(Ms) ROBIN Straus Literary Agency, set up in 1983, based at: 229 East 79 Street, NY. This agency has a web site

www.robinstrausagency.com/

but there is only one page on the web site. It might be under construction.

Johan Straus, based at 319 Lafayette Street, NY has this web site:

www.strausliterary.com which seems to redirect automatically to:

www.publishersmarketplace.com/members/strauslit/

There doesn't seem to be a connection. Jonah (not Johan) is from California. And Robin's webpage is more than one page. Try clicking the links.

I met Johah Straus at a party in Manhattan. He's young, smart, and energetic. Completely legit. He represents a pal of mine and has done a great job so far. His list is heavy on authors in translation, and has experience in foreign rights sales.
