Hello Has anyone heard of Stone Soup Community Press? They publish LGBTQ fiction and Non fiction; novels, short stories. I stumbled upon them when I was looking where i can submit my gay romance short story. Looking over their website, they seem legit and was seriously thinking of submitting my short story to them. If anyone has heard or worked with them, please let know. Thanks https://stonesoupcommunity.com/

I hadn't heard of them until now. A look on Twitter shows a small number of tweets which are mainly by the people involved in the press and they currently have 12 followers. The owners appear to have a bit more reach, but I don't see signs that it's translated into people supporting the publisher.

The current books are by the owners. The proof of the pudding will be what happens when a complete unknown gets published through them.

They look to be L rather than LGBTQ. It says LGBTQ in places, but the books and submission calls are not open to other letters unless they happen to overlap with the L.

I don't see anything about what they pay and what rights they want to buy. That's information I'd expect to see on the website, especially for short stories.

Hello, jedimaster107.

I'm Darla Baker, President and Executive Director of Stone Soup Community Press, Inc. 501(c)3. The non-profit is new, but the supporting artists consist of long-time veterans to LGBTQ publishing. It is true that we have thus far focused on Lesbian works. The Velvet Anthology is a compilation of short stories from some of the most well-known lesbian authors. It is our intention to expand our coverage beyond the "L".

We are in the process of collecting short stories for publication on our web site and would love to consider your submission. We pay between $.03 and $.05/word which includes the rights to publish in an annual compilation.

In keeping with other publishing houses, we don't publish our rates/rights on our website as they are subject to change and negotiation.
