Bad Pennies Keep Turning Up department:

Myra Fiacco, founder of Filles Vertes Publishing (link to thread about this press here) is back with a new venture: Star Alley Press.

Some of you may remember that FVP closed last year, amid a flurry of complaints from authors owed royalties and staff owed salaries. According to Victoria Strauss of Writer Beware, Star Alley was incorporated a mere month after FVP closed down, and their upcoming release was originally contracted to FVP.

Star Alley has a peculiar business model in that they plan on producing only one novel a year, with an emphasis on "Hollywood, film, TV, stage and other performing arts." (More about their mission here.)

There are no staff or other personnel listed on the website (always a red flag). However, Fiacco is listed as the Registered Agent for the business in the State of Idaho.

Sorry, I hit "enter" instead of pressing the "insert" button for the link and ended up posting before I'd finished. See above for the details and many other links.

I really like the spelling/grammar errors on their website, really great professionalism all around.

I confess that I guffawed when I saw "emersed."

It sounds like a weird combination of publisher and entertainment news. Since the principal is Idaho-based and appears to have zero contacts or experience in the entertainment industry, I fully expect the "news" portion of the service to be rehashed from other sources.
