I just boiled three eggs for seven minutes. I set an hour timer, since they are chilling in the fridge instead of on ice. I'll peel them, then soak them in brine overnight and I might have ramen tomorrow with ajitama.

Brine:
3parts each soy sauce and sake
2parts mirin
1part sugar (brown since I have it and it plays nice with soy sauce)

If I was making white ramen eggs, the brine would leave out mirin and soy sauce and add white sugar and table salt.

Which reminds me, I need to check what protein I have thawed in my fridge to think about what I'll have today.

Tuna fish/crab cakes and ramen noodles with peanut sauce. Yes, tuna from a can and the crab is that 'fake' crab stuff. I like it because it freezes well, doesn't take up a lot of space and is often buy one get one free, so I tend to stock up. I'll add some shredded carrots, broccoli, herbs for flavor. Will probably make enough cakes to freeze some for later.

Wish me luck with yet another batch of homemade bread. Also making broccoli cheddar soup.

ETA: update, the bread looks like it will be absolute garbage. Again. I have no idea how I keep messing this up.

My theory is the recipe was garbage. It gave me a specific weight of flour to use instead of volume, and I think it was too wet, so when I turned it out to shape it, the whole thing collapsed. It doubled in volume, so it rose.

Kid ended up eating it. 🤣🤣🤣

It's Spouse's birthday. Burgers, a fried fish sandwich for me, with sides of fries, onion rings and fried mushrooms. With dark chocolate fudge cupcakes (from a box mix), white frosting and peppermint bark ice cream for after.

A couple of Delmonico steaks my husband picked up at a local farmers market, baked potatoes with sour cream and salad.

I thought four potatoes would make enough fries. Roommate said she wouldn't have more than one or two. Roommate was right about her fry consumption, but I was wrong on the rest of us going after the fries like we hadn't eaten since 2025.

No one complained it wasn't enough and everything was gone, except a few extra burger patties, some of the cake and half of the carton of ice cream, so the feast was a success. Roommate and I knew we were making more burgers than the five of us would enjoy, so it's not like that was unexpected.

With any luck sushi. I just finished painting my kitchen cupboards a color I do not like so I'd prefer not to cook in there until I can fix it.

Dinner at the in-laws. MiL is roasting a whole turkey. FiL has requested oyster dressing.

Guess who has to make the dressing?

I have a recipe. I just don't LIKE dressing/stuffing. But MiL insists on stuffing the bird anyway. And she doesn't like oysters, so the oyster dressing needs to be cooked separately (while the bird is resting -- thankfully, I'll have access to the oven while it's resting).

I made a LOT of bread today (I had a point to prove) so dinner will be chicken soup and foccacia bread.

If the roads are good enough, we'll get a bottle (or two) of ketchup and I'll make tonkatsu and make a second attempt at making a bloomin onion. Not sure whether it will be rice or fries on the side.
