We are doing the All-American thing for Fourth of July, going to a baseball game. It being Wisconsin, it won't be hot dogs but brats for diner, and beer.

Tonight'll be leftover last night -- roast chicken and potatoes with gravy, pumpkin, beans, and cauliflower. Easy peasy, since it's just heat and eat! I need to bake a cheesecake or something for Game Lunch tomorrow, but that meal is already partly done as well, since it'll be some of the leftover (3 kg!!!) beef brisket with BBQ sauce, which turned out insanely delicious.

Update: Kid was trying to pan fry Italian dinner sausage because she couldn't find bratwurst. There is a saucepan of ketchup on the stove top and she has the baking soda out.

Clearly none of you prayed.

(she did listen to me about cooking the sausage in a sauce pan and then putting it in a skillet to brown after)

we got Indian takeout last night (Chicken Tikka, Navratan Korma, samosas). might have leftovers tonight, maybe augmented with a little homemade sag paneer. I hate to waste food, and it's tasty!

Grilled Greek sausage (loukanikos), with tzatzki, feta cheese, olives and pita bread.

It's Taco Tuesday, so I'm making chicken tacos with fresh guacamole. For a change, I picked up crunchy shells because we haven't had them in an age and I wanted to switch things up.

A big fat salad, probably. With fresh cukes from the CSA. And probably also some diced & steamed CSA summer squash, for the non-saladarians of the family, should they desire.

Udon noodles with stirfry. Just ground beef and onion with a mix of soy sauce, mirin and brown sugar, but I thought it was really good. Kiddo tried it, but passed the meal on to Roommate. Roommate asked her Spouse and he wound up eating the second portion.

We aren't neglecting the kid. Kiddo will probably make a couple of hot dogs. Kiddo is fourteen and able to make meals from ingredients we keep on hand.

On the other hand, Kiddo generally enjoys my breakfast of fried potatoes, if not the egg I usually have with it, so Kiddo's tomorrow morning take with food meds are sorted.

A home-made variant of Dutch snack "Vlammetje Tosti", which is basically a croque monsieur sandwich, except with spicy mincemeat instead of ham. You can buy these pre-packaged (or even prepackaged and frozen) in various of our supermarkets.

But they're pretty easy to just make yourself to whatever taste you like. Just fruit some minced garlic, minced onion and a bunch of spice powders you enjoy in a bit of oil. Add liquid spiciness of choice as well as whatever other liquids you like in there (I tend to toss in a little worcestershire sauce on top of the spice). Add the mincemeat in a thin layer.

Once browned all around & cooked through, toss in a little tomato paste to taste + a tiny bit of flour, then leave on heat for another minute or so.

Then it's just assembling your sandwich: slice of bread: bread, cheese, some of the mincemeat mixture, more cheese, other slice of bread, bit of oil or butter on the outsides, and toast with whatever's convenient for you--a frying pan, an oven, a toastie maker, etc.

I've got thawed beef mince that was excess for the cheeseburgers I made last night, so lunch could be arayes (spiced meat in flatbreads), which is fast and easy.
