It's going to be cauli-broc-cheese soup, with garlic bread if the dough turns out less unsalveagable than it's looking right now.

Buckwheat kasha with olives, lettuce, hummus sandwiches, and — that’s something new as of since yesterday — tofu with tomatoes and basil.

(Last night, I stayed awake and longed for ham and cheese sandwiches. Just one week of fasting leeeeeft…)

Does “paws” mean “feet”?

ETA: I guess it does! Interesting.
Technically chicken "feet" include the lower bit of the leg above the ankle, while chicken "paws" are cut off at or below the ankle. It's a regulatory thing apparently. But basically paws = feet, and they make THE BEST stock.

I did make mine yesterday, with a few thighs thrown in for meat, and it was delicious and comforting. I even made some matzoh balls so holiday duty performed. I'll have it again for dinner tonight: something to look forward to. After that I should probably freeze what's left of the liquid so I'll have it on hand for my colonoscopy prep day in a month or two (whenever they get around to scheduling it). Good chicken broth does make an obligatory fast more tolerable. It's always something to look forward to!

Fish sandwiches. If husband goes into town this morning there may also be Cole slaw because it's one of the few ways we both eat cabbage.

I have an awesome Cole slaw recipe that everyone loves. Basically I scale the recipe around the amount of cabbage I have. I use the food processor for the cabbage and carrots.

1 lb shredded cabbage
2 medium carrots, shredded
3 TBS minced onion

Mix in a bowl and set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk together:

1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup mayo
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 TBS vinegar
1tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 TBS lemon OR lime juice (I use lime if it's going with Mexican inspired spices)

Pour the dressing over the veggies and stir to mix. Refrigerate at least 1 hour (even though I eat it fresh)

I'm being naughty. I'm making the entire (~2 serving) box of coconut shrimp and a few onion rings in the air frier. I know frozen onion rings heated in the air frier won't be as good as real onion rings cooked fresh, but they are there and they sound good.

We're having an uninspired meal that's mostly my job, home-made chicken nuggets, roasted potatoes with garlic, and whatever vegetable is left. My money's on broccoli, which is fine by me.

At least there's Sweet Baby Ray's to dip the nuggets.

Tonight is lamb chops, roasted baby potatoes and probably more escarole.

I served it the other night sauteed with garlic, squirted with some fresh lemon and topped with grated pecorino romano. That could be happening again.

Today's Wednesday Guest Lunch will be pizza bread -- topped with prawns, because Wednesday Guest always gets prawns or pasta or both. It's fast, easy, popular, and makes heaps, so she can take enough leftovers home for a couple of dinners.

Our own dinner...dunno.

I have a bag of frozen chicken thighs and BBQ sauce. Along with bags of frozen fries. Definitely waffle fries, probably some of the steak fries I prefer. Though the other household members might have run through the steak fries.

One defrosted in the microwave then sauteed in the little frying pan, the other in the air fryer sounds good. Though there are other options.

ETA: I started to go out to make something. Roommate said Spouse and Kid went out to pick up three calzones. So I'm having surprise calzone for dinner.

Cornmeal crusted chicken thighs, rice and smashed garlic celery salad (the cuke we had turned before we could use it).
