Soup, and a loaf of homemade bread. Vegetables? Maybe. Trying to draw down fridge contents before Thanksgiving, so no leftover veggies desired.

Caramelized onion one-pan pasta with sun-dried tomatoes and chicken sausage! I realized I haven't been eating enough fruits and veggies beyond my two work-lunch tangerines a day, so it was time for a Big Recipe. I also cooked the pasta in my homemade veggie broth, so I got some major fridge space back before filling it up with my 11x14" pasta pan. Time to buy some more containers!

I have two nice, thick chops to roast, and will probably throw in some baby potatoes and carrots to keep them company. Broccoli at the store looked awful yesterday, but I remembered I have some left in the freezer, from this past spring's harvest. It'll need just a quick cook - enough to thaw it and heat it through, really - but with some butter and seasoning it should be fine.

We're doing a fast-and-easy dinner, which is tilapia in a sauce made of canned tomatoes, a little hot spice, and capers, served on rice. I think we bought broccoli, which I of course misspelled on my first attempt. My favorite green veggie, but I'm incapable of learning to spell it.

Could be worse, eh?

Husband and I had BBQ pork nachos with the leftover pork roast from...whenever I made it. I made my own nacho cheese. Can I call it "nacho cheese" when I use Velveeta, the container for which calls it "pasteurized recipe cheese product"?

It's Wednesday, which means it was prawn lunch with our niece (prawn curry and rice, a new recipe, and definitely a keeper). Dinner will be....something. Eggs on toast, if I can't think of anything else.

Thanksgiving here in the US. Our lunch menu (which will be leftover dinners for days):
  • cheesy bacon ranch chicken
  • sausage & shrimp jambalaya
  • garlic mashed potatoes
  • Brazilian coconut chickpea curry
  • green bean casserole
  • fresh sourdough bread
  • apple cider snickerdoodle cookies
  • chai pumpkin meringue pie
  • no-bake cherry cheesecake
  • and a chocolate pudding pie that we bought
Hope you all have a great day, for whatever occasion it is where you are.

We also do a lunch:

  • Roast turkey
  • Mashed potatoes
  • gravy
  • Green bean casserole
  • peas
  • steamed carrots
  • bread stuffing
  • jellied cranberry sauce (from the can, just the way my husband likes it)
  • fresh cranberry sauce with orange marmalade
For dessert we have chocolate cream pie, as well as apple pie and pumpkin pie.

Going to be a lot of these items mixed together over the next week or so as leftovers.

My daughter asked if I'd make pierogies with leftover mashed potatoes...is there a particular recipe you like for the shell?

Hubby and I are turning our backs on Aged Acres for a potluck t-giving elsewhere with fellow aging writers. Our contributions will be canned cranberry jelly beautifully sliced, cranberry sauce with minimal orange (thank you very much) and our pseudo expertise at turkey-carving, which we do as a team, and which usually turns into entertainment.

Extended family thanksgiving potluck. Main course will be turkey + ham by my sister.
My mom always makes stuffing and Jello. We'll see if this is a year where she tries getting fancy with her Jello or not (we made it clear as kids we did not appreciate her experimental Jellos, but she still goes rogue and tries to make it happen every few years).
My other siblings are doing something. They don't really have a staple dish yet.

For my family's part, I'm doing Oven-Roasted Butternut squash with a mildly hot Harrissa-Jalepeno sauce dressed with a drizzle of tahini.

It's still early here in AZ but I'll probably have to get off the couch and start cooking pretty soon . . .

Roommate is making bone-in chicken wings, mashed potatoes and a packet of country gravy for late lunch or early dinner, given its Thanksgiving. Kid is probably making rice, since Kid and Spouse do not like mashed potatoes. Potatoes are french fries or nothing for Kid. Spouse will eat my sauteed potatoes, but not mashed and probably not baked.

We all tend to fix our own, and have taught Kid to cook, because we all have different food quirks and I'm not going to be a short order cook in my home kitchen.

Hubby: I don't know if we'll have enough potatoes for you to make pierogi tomorrow!

Me: Trust me. Weigh the leftovers.

Hubby: Two and a half pounds?

Me: Yeah, there's enough.
