Any experience with this publisher? I didn't see them in the index, although it looks like they've been around since 2009. Submissions section says they accept short story collections at the moment.

The short story solicitation appears to be current, but in their "new and notable releases" section, there's nothing more recent than 2021. That doesn't mean they haven't published anything, just that they're not keeping the site up to date. Less-than-great Amazon sales rankings on most of these, but given their age that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Thomas E. Kennedy, one of their founders, passed away in 2021. I suspect the dearth of books since then isn't a coincidence, although they state they have a new publisher as of this year.

So I don't know. :) This may be a decent small literary publisher who had to slow down when they lost one of their founders.

Serving House Books is owned by parent company Lawrence Landing Company, LLC, a corporation registered in 2024 in North Carolina. This recent registration likely covers the change in ownership of the press, which is touched on in the website's About section and covered more fully in the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses site, here: Lawrence Landing Company.

SHB seems like a well-established niche press, but when there's a change in ownership, particularly one this recent, previous experience may no longer be relevant.
