Open to all forum members, even after it starts!

This month's prompt:
Steampunk/Retro-Future

Steampunk and Retro-Futurism are genres that take the aesthetics and technology of the past (the Victorian era, interwar Art Deco era, etc.) and add futuristic technology. Examples include The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, the Downey Sherlock Holmes films, and (or so I'm told) some wacky Japanese animes like Fullmetal Alchemist, Steamboy, and a bunch of the Miyazakis.

As always, your entry can be prose, poetry, play, fiction, nonfiction.

Instructions:
Simply post your blog's URL in this thread to join. I'll let you know in this thread when it's your turn. Once your turn comes up, you have two days to complete a blog post using the prompt. When you are finished, please add a link to your post on the thread.

If you signed up but find yourself unable to participate or need to be moved around in the schedule, please PM me or post in the thread. If you fail to post on your blog and on the thread within two days, I'll bump you down to the end of the line on the third day; you'll get a second chance at the end of the month.

Each post should be less than 1000 words if possible. Read and comment on other participants' posts if you possibly can--they'll be doing the same for you! Please include a list of all participants' blogs (not necessarily their actual posts for the month) in your blog post.

I'd like to do this. Although it feels a bit like cheating since atompunk is basically all I do:

Atomic Skies at http://atomic-skies.blogspot.com

If possible, I'd prefer to go later in the month, as I have a couple of really cool possibilities in mind, but I'm waiting for copyright permissions / interlibrary loan requests to arrive so I can do them properly.

I was about to express incredulity that atompunk is a thing, but then I remembered Fallout. And I approve.

Any idea of when?

You know, I've never actually played any of those games...

Not really. The ILL people at my library are all kinds of wonderful, but how long it takes to get books in is a crapshoot. And I have no idea how long copyright permission requests will take as I've never done them before (I usually do government projects where you don't need approval to use the pretty pictures). Probably September 15th at the earliest. I have three potential articles that would fit within the length guidelines, so we'll see which one gets in first.

meowzbark it is, then. This is already shaping up to be our shortest month yet! I need to think on how to reverse this trend and bring in some more participants :\

I've only just started blogging, but I'd like to give this a try. Especially seeing as I wrote about steampunk for one of my last uni essays so it'll be interesting if I can bring anything from that without it sounding like a uni essay. I've got a review and potentially a blog about self-publishing perceptions planned over the next few weeks though, so could I possibly be put down for after the 20th, please? My blog is http://thelanguageofimagination.blogspot.co.uk/

Sure, no problem. We are unusually back-loaded this month as it is, after all.

meowzbark, one day left to meow or bark as you see fit.

Bump me please. I had to take a couple days off of the blog and so I'm behind on scheduled posts. I'll try to get my post up this weekend or sometime next week.
