Hi AW, I'm searching for a few beta readers for my manuscript. I've already had a few betas, made some plot edits, and am ready for another round of feedback (even if it's just telling me where you lost interest). The story is basically about a mid-twenties woman who comes home after years abroad as a Peace Corps public health volunteer, starts dating a guy with an opioid addiction, and believes she can fix him. There are definitely heavy topics, but I (at least attempt to) weave in some dark humor to add some levity.

I'm mainly looking for feedback on plot and pacing. This is not the most plot-driven book, so I would love to know if you get bored at any point, and if any of the secondary plots feel off or unfinished. This may not be for you if you are solely a genre reader or hate literary fiction, as it has a lot of character development/what is going on in their heads. I'm not precious about feedback, and blunt is better!

Tentatively open for swaps. My day job has been busy, so I may be slower than usual :)

It's not unusual for genre fiction (even strains that would be unlikely to be labeled literary) to have heaps of character development and interiority.

What's your ideal ETA on a beta?

What swaps are you open to? What do you typically read?

I'm aware, and read genre fiction, but I've read posts from a number of people (both on my query and elsewhere) that are not big fans of books that are not heavily plot driven, which is why I added that disclaimer (i.e., this book is driven more by what's going on inside the characters' heads rather than a page-turning plot, where genre generally has a juicier plot in addition to character development). Both genres include each fundamental element, but they can differ in emphasis and function.

Ideal ETA would be about a month, max. I read anything except thrillers and horror.
