Alright, Medievalist. Your task: determine the best hefe.

Suggested brands: Sierra Nevada, Live Oak, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, and anything else you can get your hands on.

Accepted--though I should warn you I'm unfairly going to try the local brewpubs here first; they're pretty amazing.

And a shoutout to blacbird for mentioning Deschutes Brewery's Black Butte Porter

First,

Yep. It's that night. We're going to be shutting AW down for about an hour at 11pm Pacific/Seattle/LA Time.

Now then, on to the beer.

My very first hefe was Henry Weinhard Brothers' Hefeweisen, on tap. You can read about it here.

But my current favorite is Sierra Nevada's new Kellerweis Hefeweizen. It's quite lovely, and no, I don't care--call it a girl beer all you want. It's perfect for a blisteringly hot humid night like this. It's unfiltered, made with very special Bavarian yeast, and at 4.8 ABV qualifies as a session beer.

How DARE you stick to the maintenance schedule! I was going to post something over here but I just so happened to try during the outage, and now I've forgotten what I was going to post!

Beer is proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy.

Beer is liquid bread, and gentile manna.

Or, as Buffy put it: "Beer good."

And so is the server.
But doesn't Buffy decide at the end beer was bad? If it had a spell on it that turned you into a primative human, anyway.

Bump!

Yep; tonight's the maintenance night. We'll be shutting down the board for about an hour in about an hour and fifteen minutes. 11 pm Seattle/L.A. time.

Beer: Tonight's beer is a bottle of Pine and Post 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon because I'm supposed to write about it.

That's a funny way to spell "pilsner".

Pine and Post Cab Sauvignon--Not bad. Lovely darker than usual crimson-purple. Nice aroma, but bit of an alcoholic burn--it's 13.5 ABV.

If you're looking for a bargain table cabernet sauvignon, I'd suggest looking towards Australia's Banrock Station, or, still my favorite California's, Merridian Cabernet Sauvignon.

And we're back!

And in about 51 minutes, somebody will be trying to access the boards...

Not me. I'm planning on being asleep in about 45.

I think I have a couple of bottles of Spaten and some Michelob Irish Red ale you can have. Hmmmm, I have no idea where the Irish Red came from . . . somebody must have brought it over sometime.

Yikes! A newbie just showed up . . . she'll probably think she's broke it.
