From the author email I had, it seems they surveyed Samhain authors about marketing ideas and promo, did a review of what kinds of advertising seemed to be having results, and decided no more banner ads on websites, because they didn't seem to be working.Interesting. The bit about 'ad buys no longer effective' gives me pause, because the common wisdom has been that well-targeted ads can reach distributors, major review sites, and other important venues most single authors cannot. If Samhain can't do that anymore, what then?
And they said they would put those marketing dollars into things that they thought might be more effective.
