One of my favorite authors and another FB friend has just been reported passed on FB by a FB friend and confirmed through secondary sources.

Nick was one of those "jack of all trades" writers. He wrote Mack Bolan books (just finished one actually), wrote for the DeathLands series, wrote his own (sometimes outrageously funny) series, and for a plethora of gaming companies. His work spanned such a broad range of capability it is hard to think of something that Nick could not or did not write.

Nick was one of my FB friends and we posted to one another frequently enough that I consider him as close a friend as I did Rick Hautala though Nick gave me less grief in real life.

Nick, your work will continue to entertain and amuse countless readers for decades or centuries to come. Your wit, your sense of humor, your attention to detail in your work, your strength and courage in the face of a terrible, horrible, relentless disease will be remembered.

Gawd, you've got one helluva' Writer's Room up there now. Try to make better use of it now than you have so far, huh?

A dark, evil place.
Don't know him, but it's always sad to lose one of our own.

RIP.

Seriously? I have been off the computer for a few days with my own health issues. This saddens me greatly. We crossed paths some years back and had just recently reconnected on FB , and hadn't had much of a chance to catch up, as his battle with cancer took over his life, he fought hard and well.

He will be missed!

Oh, that's a shame.

I first met Nick Pollotta when he had just published Illegal Aliens. He was terribly excited about it, actually standing in the hallway at a convention hawking it to passersby.

I asked Pollotta and his coauthor Phil Foglio to sign my copy of Illegal Aliens. They seemed to vie with each other for the most embarrassing dedication.

I followed Pollotta's career with interest. I have several books and a "That Darn Squid God" tee shirt somewhere.

The last time I saw him was I think at the November, 2011 Windycon. He looked tired, but talked with amusement about the Russian editions of his books. I was glad to see his career was doing so well.

I'm sorry he's gone.
