No prob!

P.S. Are you guys able to place reviews on the Lulu page? I mean, do you see that option, or am I the only one who sees it?

When is the book going to be on amazon? I have lots of pals on their reviewer forum who'd be glad to review it (I've alreday informed two of them privately) but until the book is actually available on amazon it's probably not ethical to go on their reviewer board to talk about it.

Um -- soon?

Tonya from Lulu told me they sent all the info to get SoS into the databases for bookstores, Amazon, etc. and they are pushing to get it done as quickly as possible. She was hoping it could happen in about 2 or 3 weeks from the launch on Nov.1.

There really is no way to predict it, so keep doing a search on Amazon every so often. It will probably be closer to the end of the month before we see it, perhaps around American Thanksgiving if all goes well.

But who knows? It could happen sooner, stranger things have happened.

Amazon and B&N do things in batches - so we wait until the batch with our book comes up.

My own book listing is messed up - try getting them to fix THAT! The publisher resent the listing, so I'm waiting for my batch too.

OK, now for the scoop on review copies!

We have $500 and 25 free copies from Lulu to go toward media review copies.

Some of this will be spent on the big national newspapers and magazines, and some of it will be spent on copies for writers' local papers, TV stations, etc.

If you can afford to buy a copy or two to send to your local paper and TV station, that's great. If you can't, I can help!

This is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For NOW, please don't request more than two free copies. (I may be able to go around again, but it wouldn't be fair for some people to get several copies and others to get none.)

You can either send me the complete info (name, address) of where to send the copy, or just tell me your address and I'll send it to you so you can mail it on. If you want me to mail it for you, also include your phone number so I can include that in the cover letter.

You can send books by media mail in the US, which should cost about $2 and, in my experience, take less than a week to arrive (usually 4-5 days).

Because the review copies are kind of precious, I'd appreciate if you'd make contact first-- send a press release and/or call the paper to make sure they're interested in receiving a copy. This won't work with national publications (they won't agree to anything before seeing the book), but local publications will usually at least give an indication of whether or not they'd likely cover the book.

Please e-mail me your requests when you're ready, putting the words Review Copy in the subject line.

AND the other option:

While we have to be a bit mindful of numbers on the paperback review copies, we can be REALLY, REALLY GENEROUS with the electronic review copies. That is, anyone who has any desire to review the book is more than welcome to receive the book in PDF format. Just let me know where to send it. (I should have the final one on Monday.)
Jenna, Did you receive my email awhile back requesting one of these? I wasn't sure how long it was supposed to take to get it, so I thought I'd check in. Thanks!

Rrrrrrrrrats! I should probably check this thread more often. ;) Sorry 'bout that, Rose. Ordered them for you today.

Was just coming here to post about that, in fact. I found three review copy requests from a while ago that I had overlooked. I'm wondering if I missed any others. If you requested review copies from me and haven't gotten them, please let me know.

We still have about $100 left in our budget, so if you have other review copy requests, please get 'em in as soon as you can. Thanks!

By the way, I sent Wil Wheaton a copy before I left for vacation, and am sending OSC a copy tomorrow. If I don't hear from Wil soon, I'll write and ask if he'll blog about it.

If you have enough left for me to have a review copy for the Costco reviewer, that would be great. If so, PM me and I'll give you my address.

I might even go so far as to ask her if she can reivew it in the magazine ( based on members being involved) even if they can't stock it.

I need 3 review copies, if possible. Gave 2 to bookstores today, and one more pub on the immediate radar. I think I have a signing with B&N here in Feb--the community relations manager was receptive and said she will call to firm up. Same with another bookstore. I am going to try and coordinate it with the local paper. Also will try to do something in Boston/Cambridge.
