When researching for long essays, is there some means by which I can highlight and copy/paste from an ebook, like with a Nook or something? I have a handicap and I would have to constantly pick up, hold, put down, and manipulate a highlighter with one hand with a normal book. Not to mention transcribing quotes....

First, if you're copying and pasting into your own work - Don't.

Otherwise, read on your computer in a text format.

Not to plagiarize! For purposes of quoting!

Yes. Kindle, Kindle Apps, and iBooks allow you to select short passages and then copy them to a file.

Some automatically append a citation; the difficulty with citing an ebook is that page numbers are not a viable method, since they are not standardized (you may have different page numbers for the same edition of the same book based on your device and preference settings).

Each of the major style guides has a slightly different method for citing an ebook; stick to one guide.
