I've gotten a number of serious complaints about Quiet Storm Publishing, which earlier this year apparently stopped delivering ordered books, ceased paying royalties, and went e-mail silent. A group of writers that arranged with Quiet Storm to publish an anthology has hired a lawyer to try and get back the money they paid for personal coipes.
Here's an additional litany of complaints:
- Delayed publication dates
- Poor quality product (the publisher apparently switched from Lightning Source to a cheaper printer)
- Books paid for in advance but never delivered
- Short shipments both to individuals and bookstores with no explanation
- Ignoring phone calls/emails from bookstores wanting to order books
- No royalty statements or payments
- Failure to file 1099 forms with the IRS i
- Ignoring all emails and letters of complaint
- Ignoring (and even refusing) certified/registered letters of complaint
By some reports, Quiet Storm is now defunct, but the website still looks active.
