Zondervan is a Christian publisher, with a decided conservative social viewpoint. Preditors and Editors lists them as "Not recommended", without further comment. Usually that means a publisher who charges fees to authors.

IIRC, the Not Recommended is because they use those pay-to-display services (Writer's Edge, CMS) for slush. I don't know if they still do; I'm less up on the CBA market than I used to be.

Despite that, they are quite legit and one of the Big Players in the CBA market.

They've also started a e-only fiction arm called Zondervan First. It accepts agented and unagented subs. Links:

I've published with them and they're completely legit with a top-notch staff that was a pleasure to work with. Within the Christian publishing arena, they've got a solid reputation.

I want to work with them. I even sent my manuscript but haven't heard back.

I think they're agent-only, Angel, but like Lilly says, I haven't really checked their requirements in years. Did you Google them before you subbed, to make sure they take direct subs from writers? Also, if they do, you DID send them a query letter first, right?

They have an online submission form that doesn't require an agent. I know because I just submitted my novel, The Vase, to them. Fingers crossed.

I did the online submission also. I did send a brief cover letter and query.

Not here, but there
Zondervan has a brand new YA imprint, Blink: http://blinkyabooks.com/

It's not Christian bent like the parent company. You can submit to Zondervan, so I was hoping you can submit to Blink too, but I don't see any submission guidelines. It's still so new, maybe they'll put up a page for it. I sure hope it isn't agented subs only.

If anyone else has any info on it, I'd love to hear it.
