Another new epublisher - this one is located in Australia. I can't find a thread on them.

URL= www.steamereads.com.au

They have missed their first release date of 1 December - so far no books pubbed.

I requested a copy of their contract when I first looked at them, but they were not keen to send it through. Needless to say, I walked away.

Anyone else know anything about them?

Update:

Nicola from SteamEReads sent me a copy of the contract, and I have actually signed a book to them, which was released in 2013. It was an easy process once I was contracted and I have found the both Nicola and Vicki approachable and easy to work with.

We are Australia’s premier epublisher of hot romantic fiction, now open to submissions.

I doubt that's true since so far they've published a grand total of zero books.

Their about page is as vague as can be. They say their editor-in-chief has over 20 years experience, but as far as I can tell, no name is mentioned, so it's impossible to check whether this is true or not.

Website seems geared toward authors. There isn't much content yet.

Like Imogenix said, they missed their first release dates. That doesn't inspire much confidence.

Hmm CaoPaux that page is now gone. But I see they have finally put 4 covers for a March release up.

And yes, there is little information available. I think I'm happy where I am.

They've got their site together now, and the first year's books are up.

Steam were high on my list of e-pubs as it seemed simpler for me to get royalties in $AUD. Also, they offer a signing fee (varies, $100 for novel-length work). Also, a friend (another Australian) had a smooth publishing experience with them in 2013.

The contract seemed very author-friendly compared with others I've seen. (It specifies publisher marketing obligations and limits options to sequels, defining sequels as including the same characters and so on).

I've signed now & look forward to working with them.

SteameReads are closing the door. The letter I've received states:

Hopefully this hiatus will be of short duration. However, as I am unable to determine how long it will be, the decision has been made to return all rights to work currently published, or under contract by Steam eReads, which will enable authors to seek publication with another publishing house.

Current published works will remain for sale on the Steam eReads website and other retailers until the 30th of April 2015, unless otherwise requested by the author.

I've requested and received my single title back and am in the process of preparing it for self publishing.
