No experience as an author, but they are definitely a legit small press. Distribution through Simon & Schuster. Some of their books get a lot of acclaim by serious reviewers. Booksellers get galleys. In my experience they aren't giant bestsellers or anything but I think that is mainly because they aren't particularly commercial. They are very good books, well put together. Much of what they publish is literary fiction in translation from other languages. Their 'The Face' series is really neat - mini-memoirs - and features some pretty amazing authors.
