While digging through the Grinder for a home for my short horror story, I uncovered Midnight Hour Media, which is currently asking for short horror fiction submissions for their very first anthology. It pays 2c a word with a cap at $160.

MHM is a multimedia company--they already have a short film out, and are starting up a podcast. They are expecting to release their first game this year. This is their first foray into short story publication, which makes me a little nervous. In the "Rights" section, they say, "We are not asking for ownership of your story. Just the right to print it." It is expected to release in hardcover, audiobook, paperback, and e-book.

Thoughts, anyone?

I expect they would have more professional legal language in the contract. If they don't, the creator of the work has no compunction to sign.

I submitted to them a few months ago, but never received a reply, even from my queries. According the the Grinder, almost every submission sent into them has been recorded as Dead or Never Responded. They don't seem to have a Twitter pages, and their Facebook page has not been updated since April.

I think this company is officially dead.
