Last year for her birthday, Very Tall Daughter asked for a non-fleece robe for her birthday. I delivered, and it was pretty and a total failure, so small in the arms she could not put it on.

So this year, I returned to an old, old pattern (older than many of you, I bet), dug through my stash of cotton, and found some penguin cloth I bought to make curtains only to have someone deem herself too grown up for penguin curtains. I had to buy the contrast cloth for trim, but other than that, the robe was free--and it's long enough for a daughter a full foot taller than I am.

Oooh, nice! And very grown-up looking penguins, too! I hope that Very Tall Daughter enjoys it!

Verrry pretty!

But the mind boggles at the thought of anyone being too grown up for penguin curtains. Penguins! Boggled.

How excellent! My mom and both my sisters sew, but in spite of being pretty mechanical, it just was one of those things I had zero aptitude for.
