Cheering you all on!
Hi, NaNoers! I stopped writing about halfway through the month because I wasn't connecting to the novel. Even after I got a mild case of COVID (wah wah), I still didn't feel like returning to the project. Now I'm kicking myself because I realized that I could have been working on those older novels (both NaNo novels!) that need some major revision that I'm always like, "If only I had a lot of time to work on it, I would." I have two more days guaranteed off from work, so now I will work on one of them.

You guys are awesome! :e2cheer:

Day 18: 1600
Total: 37,203

I draft short, especially at NaNo. I tend to miss important things like description, characterisation, plot resolution...

That said, I'm going to run out of story before I hit 50k on this one. I've been trying to figure out how to extend it, but I'll just write to the end, see how short I am, then decide what to do. I think the problem was I expanded a short story, so I drew out and made the main plot more detailed, but I didn't really think about any subplots (I can think of one right now I should have included).
Amazing that you are near the end  Start revising and if your process is anything like mine, you'll quickly balloon to 50,000 :)

Day 28 was 2,203 words, bringing me to 67,762

I had a strong early session, but a weak late one, so it balanced out.

Anyway, I'm not worrying that the first draft will run even longer than anticipated since 13-18 might not be enough to wrap the story up... meaning a lot of trimming in revision.

You guys amaze and inspire me to do better. Thank you for sharing your counts!
I've written 13,977 words since NaNoWriMo started. I'll try to reach 15K by tomorrow. With 3 kids, a full-time job, and bronchitis, I'll call it a win, albeit a small one.

Next year, I'll do 25! 💪

Congrats to you all and your amazing word counts

I did not do the challenge this year because I only got around 25k words last NaNo challenge.

I did track my monthly numbers this month. 30,345 on one project and 20,804 on another.

Well, it took all day rereading and working things in, but I think my novel is finally at a place of "ready to submit" so I am calling this NaNoWriMo officially Done.

Though I should probably see about a final beta readthrough just to make sure everything still works...

Day 29 was 2,025 words, bringing me to 69,787 (excluding some extra stuff that I might not add when it gets to that part)

Weaker early session followed by an okay late session. Anyway, trying to figure a few ways to condense parts of the final act but, no matter what, I'm not finishing the first draft this month.

On the whole, this is still a massive improvement over the 2020 NaNo (and earlier ones), although a large step down from 2021

At the halfway mark I was at 16667. In the second half of the month my efforts continued with drafting but also polishing (some tightening).

I end the month with four polished opens, and a total word count (which includes a few notes to myself of a few hundred words) of 18,281.

This is not NanoWrimo speed writing, but it is a resounding success for me. :) :) :)

What a great job everyone
Today was meant to finish up a kidnapping scene - only it got kidnapped by an unexpected snow day and school cancellation :e2violin:
So, I will finish NaNoWriMo at 13 days of writing with a total of 31,568 words which pushes my WIP to a very respectable 60,377

Day 30 was 1,704, bringing my total to 71,491 (minus a small amount that was written during planning, which could be somewhere between 286 and 459, although some of that might've been repurposed/rewritten/whatever)

November ends with a whimper rather than a roar. In fact, that was my third-lowest daily word count for the month. I'm going to blame it on a mix of procrastination and just stumbling.

So, while I finished the 50k for NaNo, the manuscript's first draft will have to be finished in December. Oh well, it was still fun. Hopefully next year will attract an even bigger crowd on AW.
