Hi all,

Oof, it's been a rough couple of weeks... Between a mini meltdown (not fun!) and then my sister and her boyfriend here for Thanksgiving (fun!), the writing has been very inconsistent. I did manage about 100-300 words a day over the holiday, at least a little bit of writing every day except the actual Thanksgiving Day, so I can feel ok about that. But I had to take a step back and realize (with my husband's help) that I may not actually make the NaNoWriMo count this year - and that's ok. It makes me sad to break a streak of 5 years, but I just have to be realistic in that it's just going to make both of us miserable if I push as hard as I would need to through the end of the month. It doesn't help (every year...) that my husband's birthday is the last day of the month and it's nice to actually spend the day together, especially since he doesn't have to work this year, at last. I had hoped to be more ahead and maybe even finish today - Day 29: 6471 words!!! - but I'm totally wiped now, so it is what it is. I only have 3000 words to go as per NaNo, and one last box left on my outline, so we'll see what ends up happening tomorrow, but for now...
Glad to see so many of you making good progress! :Trophy:

cmhbob - I do miss going to the Nutcracker every year growing up, and Drosselmeyer is such a fun part, enjoy!

PraiseRao - Have you looked at WorldAnvil at all? It's for both writers and gamers to create full and detailed worlds, and seems to have pretty unlimited options for topics, also prompts to help you flesh things out when you get stuck. I am not really organized and detailed enough to get a world fully figured out, but it's useful to play around with and sounds like it could be a good fit for what you want. Also, there's a 40% off coupon through NaNo!

Ptero - it was a while back now, but please run with the Amish horse erotica

I see there's a new topic for December already, but it's still the last day November around here so I'm checking in... to admit I abandoned all the good progress I had made this month in terms of habits  ... :giggle:. In the last week: no writing done, no blog posts, nothing.
(And I cannot use Thanksgiving as an excuse, as it's not something we celebrate here. But I was traveling, for the first time after two years of pandemic, and it took all the energy out of me. And it's been a fun week still! :))
But no worries, I am actually proud of what I have done, e.g. complete one of the short stories I had planned (preparing to submit it this week, fingers crossed).
And I'll start fresh tomorrow with a new (ahem) plan: get to write every day...

@Gatteau happy birthday to your husband!
@everyone: congratulations on however many or few words you have written in November. Well done! :TheWave:

Day 29 - 3418 (edits/rewrite)
Day 30 577 (edits/rewrite)

And that's it for November. I tallied up all the words and edits and the score is:
New words - 9170
Edits/Rewrites - 10,782
Grand Total - 19,952

Sooooo... not exactly 50K, and neither book got finished. Though considering how my October went, this is damn good. If I can keep the momentum going into December, I might just finish something. Most likely Book 2, which accounted for most of those words, in both categories. Then I can get back to Book 7, with a return to Book 1 as a side project. Or I may do the Amish porn after all. I hadn't been considering a Pennsylvania Dutch version of Mr. Ed, but now that Gatteau's mentioned it... :evil

Gatteau - Woo-hoo to the word count!:banana::banana:

PraiseRao - is that a Loki helmet you're wearing? With the big bendy horns? :greenie

+10 pomodoros today, did I check in yesterday? I don't know. The total for this month in pomodoros is 267. The highest by over 50 pomodoros I have ever done in a month. See you all in the December thread.

Pterofan: Yep they are president Loki horns. lol

Day 30 was 3,806 words
Total word count for November was 91,646 words.

I know I don't say this often, but I feel a whole lot better now that I've killed someone. The Christmas slasher claimed their first victim, and thankfully it was a short scene. Given that the victim is an unnamed character, I'm thinking *maybe* I can squeeze a few extra ones in (although I need at least 4 to make the story work)

I had intended to write the slasher scenes in 3rd-person past-tense, but I finally decided to use 3rd-present to keep with using present for the rest of the story. However, I'll have to see how it feels afterward because it reads *weird*, between using the killer's moniker for the name and "they" for gender-indefinite pronoun because the identity is being withheld.

PraiseRao - I've thought about a wiki as well at times, although the paid options are "eh" and I don't like the idea of it being hosted elsewhere. I keep meaning to look into a way to just do it on a computer.

Gatteau - Welcome back.

Day 30

Day off

Gatteau – Sorry about the mini meltdowns. I’m guilty of the same from time to time. WTG for writing through the fun during the holidays!

Turtle – WTG on completing a short story, and good luck on the new plan.

Nether – Congratulations on the first kill!

PraiseRao – Good writing!

Ptero – Grats on the edits and rewrites over two days! And you made progress.:)

Nether - I run my own headless server on my desktop from an old computer. I'm pretty technically inclined. I would never put my wiki online.

So I just did the math and I wrote about 10k words for the month. Not enough to hit my goal, but considering I'm still trying to get back into a full groove and the last week and a half or two weeks of the month were very unfriendly to both my time and mental bandwidth for writing, I'm satisified with what I accomplished. Hopefully December is an even better month.

I know it’s December now, but for the sake of completion I am putting my update here.
Day 30: 3002 words!
Month total: 50077 words!
Made it, just barely finishing NaNo! And it feels so good. Why is the last 3000 so much easier than all the other 3000s which came before...? :Jump:

As you should, since it pertains to something done in November :p

Congrats.

Why is the last 3000 so much easier than all the other 3000s which came before...?

I find that varies on a manuscript to manuscript basis, although the ending is usually just running the bases after already hitting the ball.

Sometimes either my final day (or also the penultimate day, since there might not be much left after that) is huge and easy, sometimes it's not.
